Shining Horizon
 
This first flute of 2022 is about light shining upon our path as we head towards new horizons. On my own journey of this life this year feels as though there will be so much coming. The inspiration for this flute is about following the heart. It’s about being guided from that sacred place where intuition is channeled, truly allowing the signs to come through and following their truth. Each moment in life is a gift and as I walk upon my own path with honour and gratitude I see before me a Shining Horizon and this is the name I give to this flute. What ever comes whether beautiful or painful I welcome them all.   There are important lessons and wisdom to be learned with each footstep. As I stand tall and walk upon this incredible path before me with courage and love in my heart I send out light in all directions. The songs of this flute are light.  They shine brightly and it is my hope that they will help to guide all who play her along their own sacred journey. 
 
She is in the key of G tuned to 432Hz and is 49cm (19”).  Made from black bamboo, I use a combination of burning, sanding and polishing which gives each of these flutes a wonderful smooth finish and unique colour pattern. The stone inlay is Malachite. The block is made of Black Locust my Dad foraged in Upstate New York and is held in place with leather lace from North American Whitetail Deer hide and has Turquoise eyes.The lashing around the body of the flute is artificial sinew and coloured whipping twine. The feathers are from Buzzard and Wild Turkey. The Buzzard was picked up from the road having been hit by a car and the Wild Turkey was foraged, honoured and shared by my brother in law in New York State.  Both beings have been given honour and prayers here by myself and my partner and I am so blessed to be able to include their beauty as part of this medicine flute.
