Jaguar Spirit
 
This flute is inspired by Jaguar wisdom and all that she can teach us. In her natural environment she has no predators but she does know fear. As humans we can have a lot of fear and often don’t deal with it very well. That fear may have come from something in childhood or even another life but it is usually a very hard emotion to let go of. The medicine of Jaguar can help to teach us to overcome our fears. To be courageous. Once we have mastered fear we can then allow vulnerability and I feel it is from that place where we create the most beauty. Jaguar also teaches us the way beyond death. To understand that death is not something to be feared. It is a doorway through which we all must pass through and should be celebrated as much as life. It is the natural cycle of creation and part of our continuing journey of learning, transformation, light and enlightenment. I hope that this flute will inspire those who play her and hear her to feel and learn this great medicine that  Jaguar wisdom can teach us. In honour of this wisdom I name this flute Jaguar Spirit.
 
She is in the key of F# tuned to 432Hz and is 55cm (21.5”).  She is made from from black bamboo, I use a combination of burning, sanding and polishing which gives each of these flutes a wonderful smooth finish and unique colour pattern. The stone inlays at the top is black coal from West Virginia. The inlays at the bottom are Red Serpentine from The Lizard in Cornwall, UK and Yellow Jasper. They are the eyes of Jaguar. The block is made of Black Locust that my Dad foraged in Upstate New York and is held in place with leather lace from North American Whitetail Deer hide and has Turquoise eyes.The lashing around the body of the flute is artificial sinew and  black waxed twine. The feathers are Crow and Barn Owl which as always were found while I am walking with Mother Nature or gifted to me by friends.
