Healing Path Breath of Life
 
This flute is about healing and learning. Healing from within and sending shining light out to all beings on this planet from what we have learned from Mother Earth herself. On the day that I began creating this flute the Earth was breathing like she hadn’t for a long time. Spring flowers were everywhere and there was a freshness in the air that I felt deeply. The current virus epidemic that has been with us now for some time has caused much pain and suffering to many and yet the air that we breath has become so much more alive as humans have slowed down. The first words this flute sang were filled with joy and purity. There is a beautiful light that is shining upon us all and it is within that light that we can hear such a clear song if we just take a moment to listen. As I tuned this flute and sang our first song together I felt so alive and full of life. That song was to give thanks to Mother Earth for all that she provides to us. It is not just food, shelter and clothing but also great teaching. It is possible to learn from her each and every day if we just take some time to slow down and listen to what she is telling us. The journey of healing and learning starts from within. It is from that place that we can begin to connect with what we have always known and yet so many of us have forgotten. In that place we can know that everything is connected and all is one. In honour of this great teaching from Mother Earth I have named this flute Healing Path Breath of Life.
 
She is in the key of E4 at 432Hz and is 56cm (22”). She is made of black bamboo and I use a combination of burning, sanding and polishing which gives each of these flutes a wonderful smooth finish and unique colour pattern. She has 6 finger holes and is tuned to a pentatonic minor scale.The Totem is made from Cherry and has eyes of Turquoise. It is held in place with leather lace from North American Whitetail Deer hide. Finger hole #4 is also covered with the same lace. This can be slid up and down at any time to change this flute between a 5 hole and 6 hole configuration.The blue stone inlays at the top of the flute are Turquoise and the inlays at the bottom are Malachite. The red lashing is of waxed cotton whipping cord and the natural colour lashing at either end is artificial sinew.The  feathers are tied on with leather cord and they are from Magpie and Barred Owl and Red Kite which as always were found while I am walking with Mother Nature.
