Circles of Light

Circles of Light

This flute is about the light that we all have inside us always throughout our continuing journey of Birth, Life, Death and Spirit. It is a circle as most things are in the Universe and we all move around it many times gaining wisdom, light and love on each revolution. With each life there are many lessons to learn. If we let our heart be our guide these lessons will unfold clearly before us. They are not always easy. In fact they are often difficult but having, knowing and living the wisdom that they bring us gives us more light that we may shine brightly out into the infinite universe around us. The more light we shine the clearer our path becomes as we connect to the love that is within everything and everyone. It is my hope that the songs of this flute will shine together with this universal love as they flows from the heart of whoever is playing her and that this light will carry these songs with grace and beauty to infinity. In honour of this most incredible journey I name this flute,

Circles of Light

She is in the key of A tuned to 432Hz and is 44cm (17”). She is made from black bamboo. I use a combination of burning, sanding and polishing which gives each of these flutes a wonderful smooth finish and unique colour pattern. The stone inlays are Crushed Pearl, Black Coal from West Virginia, Red Serpentine from Cornwall and Yellow Jasper. These represent the colours of the the 4 sacred directions according to the Maya peoples of Mexico and Central Americal The block is made of Beech that I foraged from a forest near by in Oxfordshire UK and is held in place with leather lace from North American Whitetail Deer hide and has Turquoise  eyes. The lashing around the body of the flute is artificial sinew and white, red, yellow and blacks blue cotton twine. The feathers are Red Kite and Barn Owl which as always were found while I am walking with Mother Nature or gifted to me by friends.
